Welcome to KSM SOLAR
An aluminum alloy hook mounting system is a mechanical fastening solution designed to secure solar panels to pitched tile roofs. Its defining feature is the aluminum hook construction—a lightweight, corrosion-resistant component that attaches directly to roof rafters and provides an integrated interface for aluminum mounting rails.
Structural Rafter Attachment: The aluminum hook is mechanically fastened directly to the roof's structural rafters or battens using stainless steel lag screws or bolts, ensuring solar array loads are transferred safely into the building structure .
Tile Preservation: The hook slides under existing roof tiles, allowing them to remain intact and undisturbed. This preserves the roof's weatherproofing and aesthetic appearance without requiring tiles to be cut around the attachment point .
Material Harmony: The defining advantage is the electrochemical compatibility between the aluminum hook and aluminum mounting rails. This eliminates galvanic corrosion concerns and the need for isolation washers or specialized bi-metal separators .
High-Strength Aluminum Alloys: Hooks are manufactured from structural aluminum alloys, most commonly 6005-T5
6005-T5: Offers excellent strength (yield strength ~215 MPa) and is commonly used for extruded hook designs .
Lightweight: Aluminum weighs approximately one-third of stainless steel, making hooks easier to handle and install on roofs .
